What does AS9100 require for training and competence?
AS9100 builds on ISO 9001, and its clause 7.2 requires organizations to determine the necessary competence for people doing work that affects quality, ensure those people are competent on the basis of education, training, or experience, take actions to acquire the missing competence, evaluate the effectiveness of those actions, and retain documented information as evidence of competence.
The phrase that trips up most training programs is evaluate the effectiveness. A sign-in sheet and a completion date prove that training was delivered. They do not prove that it worked. Why does completion tracking fall short in an AS9100 audit?
