Best Aerospace and Defense Training Software (2026)

A factual roundup of training platforms and LMS options serving aerospace, defense, and regulated manufacturing, with a comparison table and FAQ.

Training software for aerospace and defense is not one category. Airlines buy courseware and crew-training LMS platforms. Repair stations and manufacturers need training records that survive an FAA inspection or an AS9100 audit. Defense organizations need secure, accredited platforms. And a growing set of teams need something none of the traditional tools provide: proof that the training actually produced competency.

This roundup covers all four jobs. Every factual claim about a vendor comes from that vendor's own site or announcements, linked inline. One disclosure up front: AmpUp Insights is our product. We have placed it where it honestly fits, competency verification, and described the rest of the market factually so you can find the right tool for your job even if it is not ours.

How we chose

  • Verified vendors only.Every product listed is in active use in aviation, defense, or regulated manufacturing, per the vendor's own materials.
  • Coverage across the four jobs: aviation crew training, training management and scheduling, enterprise and defense LMS, and quality-linked training records, plus competency verification.
  • Standards and records first. We note SCORM, xAPI, and LTI support and audit-facing record quality wherever the vendor documents it, because that is what regulated buyers get audited on.

Best for competency verification in regulated industries

1. AmpUp Insights

Best for: proving training worked, not just that it was delivered. AmpUp Insights is a competency verification platform for regulated industries, with aerospace and defense as its core focus. It builds courses from your own procedures, task cards, decks, and recorded sessions, scores assessments against your rubrics, runs voice-enabled scenario practice, and tracks retention with spaced retrieval after training ends. Every completion carries the assessment evidence behind it, so compliance reporting shows who is qualified and on what evidence.

It is not a replacement for the systems below: keep your existing LMS and connect over SCORM 1.2, LTI 1.3 with grade passback, and xAPI, or deliver training directly in AmpUp. Existing SCORM 1.2, Articulate Rise, and H5P content imports as editable slides and questions. See the platform overview and how it works. Disclosure: this is our product.

Best for aviation crew and pilot training

2. CPaT Global

CPaT Global is a distance-learning provider for the aviation industry, offering aircraft systems courseware alongside CPaT Access, a company-branded LMS with a mobile app, offline delivery, exam management, and qualification tracking, plus an API for connecting to other SCORM training management systems. CPaT states it serves more than 400 airlines and training organizations and supports upload of HTML5 and SCORM 2004 conformant courseware.

3. CAE Pelesys

CAE Pelesys pairs one of the industry's larger independent aviation courseware libraries with TMDS, a training management and deployment platform covering flight crew, cabin crew, maintenance, and dispatch. CAE cites over 150 customers worldwide, SCORM-conformant courseware, and products approved for use under regulators including the FAA, EASA, and Transport Canada.

4. Avsoft

Avsoft offers avLMS, a learning management system built for airline pilot training, plus aircraft systems courses covering Airbus, Boeing, ATR, Bombardier, and Embraer types, designed for initial and recurrent training requirements. Its modular courseware is deliverable on any LMS, an offline Portable Classroom app covers connectivity gaps, and listed customers include PSA Airlines, Jazz Aviation, WestJet, and Embry-Riddle University.

Best for training operations and scheduling

5. MINT TMS

MINT TMS, now part of Comply365, is a training management system that centralizes course, instructor, classroom, and simulator scheduling with automated qualification tracking, certification management, and digital exam creation. It serves airline training departments, cabin crew and maintenance training, air traffic control, and military flight training organizations; Avelo Airlines is among its named customers. It manages the logistics of training rather than authoring the content.

Best for defense and government training

6. Vector Solutions (Acadis Readiness Suite)

Vector Solutions serves federal, military, and public safety training operations through its Acadis Readiness Suite, positioned for high-volume, high-risk training operations that typically replace five to seven siloed systems. Vector describes Acadis as approved at the FedRAMP Moderate level for DoD and federal LMS use, and also sells Vector LMS for industrial and manufacturing safety training.

7. Cornerstone Learning

Cornerstone is an enterprise learning platform with a dedicated public sector offering. In March 2025 it announced DISA and Department of Defense Impact Level 4 (IL4) provisional authorization, which Cornerstone describes as a first for a workforce agility solution, alongside a public sector content subscription of more than 5,000 courses. A fit for large enterprises and government programs that need compliance training at scale.

Best enterprise LMS for regulated manufacturing

8. Litmos

Litmos (formerly SAP Litmos) is a cloud LMS with a dedicated manufacturing solution: structured OSHA, GMP, and ISO compliance programs, automated tracking with audit-ready reporting, mobile-first delivery on plant-floor tablets with offline capability, and content in more than 37 languages. Litmos cites 375+ manufacturing organizations as customers and supports SCORM content upload and AI authoring.

9. Docebo

Docebo is an AI-first enterprise learning platform combining LMS, LXP, and skills intelligence for employee, partner, and customer training, with manufacturing and public sector among its named industries. It supports SCORM and xAPI content standards, is ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliant, and lists customers including Zoom, PwC, SNCF, and GE Appliances. A consolidation play rather than an aerospace-specific tool.

Best for quality-linked training records (AS9100 shops)

10. Octave Reliance (formerly ETQ Reliance)

Octave Reliance, the platform formerly known as ETQ Reliance, is a cloud-native enterprise QMS with 40+ configurable applications including training management: build training plans, track completion, and link requirements so records sit alongside document control, CAPA, and audit management. Aerospace and defense is a named industry, and the platform integrates with ERP, MES, PLM, and CRM systems.

11. Intelex

Named aviation users include Czech Airlines Technics.

Which one should you pick?

Map the tool to the audit question you have to answer. If the question is "are the crews trained and current?", the aviation platforms (CPaT, CAE Pelesys, Avsoft, MINT) are built for it. If it is "can we produce compliant training records inside our quality system?", the QMS modules (Octave Reliance, Intelex, Ideagen) keep records where the auditor already looks. If it is "can we run secure training at government scale?", Vector Acadis and Cornerstone carry the accreditations.

And if the question is "can we prove the training actually worked?", that is the gap most of this market leaves open, and the one AmpUp Insights exists to close: completion records tell you training was delivered; competency verification produces evidence that it produced capability. For the regulatory background, see our AS9100 and FAA Part 145 training requirements guide.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the job. For airline crew ground training, aviation-specific platforms like CPaT Global, CAE Pelesys, or Avsoft fit best. For scheduling and qualification tracking, a training management system like MINT TMS. For quality-linked training records in an AS9100 shop, a QMS module like Octave Reliance or Ideagen. For proving training actually produced competency, a verification platform like AmpUp Insights.

SCORM for content portability, and ideally LTI 1.3 and xAPI for integration with an existing LMS and learning record store. On the regulatory side, the software should support the records AS9100 clause 7.2 and 14 CFR 145.163 require: evidence of competence and documentation of individual employee training.

An aviation LMS delivers and tracks courses, often with aviation courseware libraries. A QMS training module manages training records inside a quality system, linked to document control, CAPA, and audits. Many organizations run both, plus a verification layer that proves the training worked.

Start from the audit question: can you show, for a specific person and task, evidence of competence and current training? Then check content fit (can it train on your procedures?), standards support (SCORM, LTI, xAPI), record quality (evidence attached to completions), and whether it works with the systems you already run.

See competency verification against your own procedures.
